First Drop growers
are determined to nurture and bring out the best in their land to produce
a truly unique Far North extra virgin olive oil.
Each grove has varying soil types and slightly different sub-climates,
which produce beautiful boutique oils in their own right. Combined, they
are sensational!
These oils are quite simply superb and tend to be subtly different to
any other oils grown in New Zealand.
First Drop, Finest Taste, Premium Quality
Aside from taste, two good indicators of premium quality oils are low
acidity and peroxide levels. Low levels of both indicate that very good
care was taken of the fruit when picked and that fruit was clean and pressed
VERY quickly after picking.
Located at the very northern tip of New Zealand, the olive groves are
spread between two attractive bays: Doubtless Bay and Bay of Islands.

Acidity
First Drop extra virgin olive oils have consistently achieved less than
0.1% acidity, which compares extremely well with the 0.8% level required
to be called “extra virgin” oils.
Peroxide
Due to our consistent very low peroxide levels, First Drop extra virgin
olive oils have a 2-year “Best Before” date of usage. (The lower the peroxide
level, the longer the oil will keep).

Extra Virgin Olive Oils
- Koroneiki single cultivar: Single cultivar oil combining
grassy flavours with stronger olive fruit flavours. A medium oil with
long-lasting finish. Superb with fish or ripe tomatoes and a perfect
oil for dipping. (250ml)
- Tuscan single cultivars:
Frantoio - Often referred to as the "workhorse" of the Tuscan
Olives, being both colourful and flavourful; a perfect accompaniment
to any fish,chicken or vegetable dish (250ml)
Leccino - A well balanced sweet neutral "crowd pleaser" oil,
perfect for salads, vegetarian dishes and dipping (250ml)
- The Three Tuscans:
combining the flavours of three classic Tuscan cultivars - Frantoio
and Leccino as the base, the third changing seasonally. Produced by
picking and pressing the three cultivars together, this well-balanced
oil is suitable for all purposes. (250ml)
- Te Rima J5 single cultivar: Our signature single
cultivar oil combines rich grass and citrus flavours with a pungent
peppery after-taste. Unique to Northland, New Zealand, this stronger-tasting
oil complements steak and meat dishes. (250ml)
